Race entry will close at 1200hrs on Friday 2nd January 2009.
The race will start 1200hrs on Sunday 4th January 2009. Competitors start at 1 minute intervals with the fastest swimmers towards the end. Competitors will need to register at least 1 hour before their allocated start time.
A full list of start times will posted here on the evening of Friday 2nd January.
Turbo training will take place tomorrow night, then restart on Tuesday 6th of January.
New College swimming will finish on Friday 19th, then restart on Wednesday 7th January. Have a good break everyone!

Les on IM Florida drafting
Whilst enjoyed his IM 70.3 experience, Les had something to say about some of the other competitors. This was picked up by Tri247 here.

Lifesaving course
Abberley Hall are running a Lifesaving Course on 9th January. Members are invited to contact Katie Wood (at Abberley School) for further details if interested.
Bike servicing
The Mobile Bike Shop is run by a GB team mechanic and offers a full service (strip-down and clean) for only £35. More details here. The scheme would require around 5 members dropping their bikes off somewhere locally - if you're interested co-ordinate through the forum.

Burntwood Autumn Aquathon - win!
Tom Watts stormed home to victory at the Burntwood Aquathon for the second year running in 24.40, a great time for the 400m swim and 5km run. Alison Hughes also competed and finished in a respectable 39.41.
Neil Wicks has written up a good report of his first go at the legendary Ballbuster Duathlon.
Duncan Jenkins ran Birmingham half on 26th October. "It was a challenging, surprisingly hilly course. The support from spectators was excellent, particularly down Broad Street heading to the finish. I finished in 65th place in a time of 1hr 24mins, improving my PB by nearly 4 minutes."
Outgoing chairman and super-vet Les Bailey is competing at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Florida next Saturday (bib #330 for live tracking). Have a good one Les!

Although the tri season has come to an end, winter racing continues with events such as duathlons and cross-country. Keep sending event reports to me to keep your fellow members updated on what's going on.
No swim sessions at New College this week because of half-term. Sessions resume Wednesday 5th November.

New College have asked the club to ensure that their pool is properly closed up after Mon/Weds/Fri swim sessions. The last person out should turn off all the lights, lock the door and post the keys in at reception.

Great news, following negotiations Friday swim sessions are back on at New College, from 17:00 to 18:00. Numbers at Monday and Wednesday sessions have been varied, remember good attendance is needed to keep these viable.
Busy time for the Parsons
Michelle Parsons is one of the clubs most successful athletes and has just undergone surgery to hopefully resolve an achilles injury that has plagued her season. Meanwhile husband Phil is off this week to compete in the big one - Ironman Hawaii (#1109 for online tracking). We wish them both the best of luck!
Turbo sessions
The club wishes to clarify that turbo-sessions starting this Tuesday are, at present, not formally coached but group sessions with a suggested programme.
Training tools
It's a little early to be thinking about training for next year, but I've added a couple of useful spreadsheets to the Tools page. If you have any suggestions for additional content, or any other comments on the website please let me know.
Turbo training is a great way of keeping legs and lungs turning over the winter months. Club sessions start on the 7th October with a new venue and programme running through to next Spring. Haven't got a turbo ? Then borrow one from the Club pool, more details on the bike training page.

Les does it again!
A bit late this one, but super-vet club chairman Les Bailey was an Ironman
winner yet again, this time at Monaco 70.3 earlier in the month. His time of
7h13 beat his nearest rival in the 70-74AG by over an hour. Les goes again at
the Duathlon World Championship in Rimini next week.

Ride The Route postponed
This event has been put back to Sunday 19th October due to the recent flooding and poor weather conditions (www.ridetheroute.net). So there's more time to get some training in!
Swim sessions at New College start this Monday, 8th September. There are some significant changes and good support from club members will be essential to keep these sessions viable. Read more on the Swim Page.
Sansome Walk swim session 20th September
The swim session will go ahead, despite clashing with the handicap race. Hopefully the swimmers will build up an appetite for the bbq - maybe the session should finish 5 minutes early so you've got time to make it to Top Barn!

The club's 5 km handicap running race will be on Saturday 20th September at Top Barn followed by a barbeque / social for all members and families. The handicap format means anyone can take the prize, plus with the Club supporting the catering, tickets are a very reasonable £2.50. More information and entry details can be found here.

Halesowen Tri in trouble - entries needed
Halesowen Sprint Tri, due to take place on the 21st September, is looking doubtful due to lack of entries. If you're interested, an entry form is here, but you'll need to be quick.

Big thanks to Mark E, Mark C, Duncan J, Ruth M, Johnny S, and myself (Les) for being brave enough to attend the calendar Photo Shoot on Mon at the Rowing Club, you all deserve a Gold Medal. For club members who declined to attend I can say it was all Good Fun!! and we all kept each other warm !!! Calendars are due to be in print by Oct 08 so will be a good Xmas buy. Remember it's all in aid of St. Richards Hospice so buy a few copies. Cheers Les
Ride The Route - Tour of Worcestershire
The Tour of Worcestershire Challenge is being held on 14th September and follows on from the popular 'Ride The Route' event of last year, to tie in with the Tour of Britain's visit to the County again. A challenging 92 mile route is offered (with 19 categorised climbs including The Wyche, Ankerdine Hill and Wynniattes Way, Abberley) , as well as a 13 mile family ride, on an almost entirely traffic free route. Details for the Droitwich Sprint triathlon have been updated to include new maps of the bike course and HQ. Please note that confirmed entries and start times will be posted to this site 2 weeks prior to the event.
The sharp eyed amongst you will notice that the website has changed ever so
slightly! David King stepped down recently as webmaster after a long period
hosting and maintaining the site. The club and committee wish to say a big
thanks to David for his time and effort.
Mark Corbett has taken over as webmaster and the club is taking this opportunity
to redevelop the site. The intention is to freshen the look, update the content
and introduce features such as more regular news, member interviews and a
discussion forum.
In the interim period Mark has done this temporary face-lift to accommodate
upcoming news and events. Apologies for any broken links or formatting quirks
during this transition.
